The Second Surge of COVID 19
The bleak cycle continues
I could say to you:
COVID is having a second surge
The virus emerges subacute
The disease attacks just as acute
In 2020 month of November
It unveils again ashes and ember
I could say to you:
COVID doesn’t listen to victim’s plea
It toots its horn with glee
It hides in the lungs
Sucks in oxygen through its pores
‘Till the victim turns to a corpse
I could make a morbid joke and say to you:
COVID can’t replicate in the dead
So it joins Trump’s rally instead
Crowds and live bodies are its breeding ground
Droplets scatter in spits and shouts
Coronavirus spreads without doubts
But what I really want to say to you:
My first day on the COVID ward, I had to pronounce a death,
after the patient FaceTimed his daughter to ask permission to die;
“Cause of death — Acute respiratory failure due to coronavirus.”
My third day on the ward, the patient asked to speak to the chaplain;
Nurse called me shortly after to say that…
