The Pause

Life changed abruptly
Rush hour traffic seized existence
Mad rush to the mall came to a halt
Schools closed all through nations
Workforce dwindled in numbers
As the pandemic rolled all over the globe

Stillness replaced hurried images
Self reflection replaced obligated social mingling
Brighter sunsets replaced subdued skies
Peace replaced chaos
As the world became quiet and I,
I welcomed the pause

I paused and took notice:
The snapdragon blooms in a triad of petals
The violet’s pistil is yellow
The lavender permeates fragrance of soothing
The bumblebee dances around the petals collecting nectar
Daisies are shy in the morning but smile bright at the midday sun

I paused and took notice
God’s world is at display
I only needed respite from the mad chase
So I could connect with my own grace
And bear witness to all the sweet moments
That the world so willingly parades
