My younger self would have scoffed at the idea of having girlfriends to just hang out with, eat a meal or share some laughs, but as I have hit middle age (50+) to my utter, utter dismay 🤦🏻‍♀️, I have been increasingly seeking out the companionship of women my age. So this blog is meant to capture our memories and to celebrate us!

Here we go with Part 2…

Have you guys ever wondered why we MUST tip? I mean you can’t even get a frickin cup of coffee without the barista giving you dirty looks meant to shame you to the point of compliance. This was a recent topic of conversation at our lunches.

I must say I’m not a big tipper especially for coffee at my local coffee shop. When the ipad turns toward me and the tipping bubbles appear, I quickly, swiftly and incospicuously hit the no tip zone. I then scribble my signature, turn the iPad around, grab my coffee and head out as if I’m stealing that cup of joe. In service industries, if the service is good, I usually tip the minimum required so I am guessing the tipping Gods are very angry with me but in a recent trip to Japan I realized how over-rated tipping is in this country. In Japan tipping is unnecessary, unanticipated and even detested 🙅🏻 because the Japanese culture emphasizes service in all shapes and forms. The Japanese live to work, contribute to family and society without feeling the least bit entitled. It makes me wonder where else this is the norm.

This wasn't the only topic we discussed this fine day where the above picture was taken at a local SF Thai Restaurant called Farmhouse but it was one I remember. Stay tuned for more blogging ….

Cheers🥂
