Fearful

I wrote this about my own fears and with the Coronavirus in my mind

Fear is a funny thing
Makes my mouth parched for a drop of rain
Leaves tiny foot prints
That don’t fade away

Fear lingers
Fear lurks in the corners of my heart
Fear anticipates an ambush
It pounds on my heart

Fear doesn’t want to do battle alone
It wants to engage the whole army
Fear recruits
Enlists the ignorant and the naive, just like me

Fear is a funny thing
In my heart, it’s housed alone
In the collective, it’s euphoric
In the collective, it’s hysteric

Fear is a funny thing
Divides me from my tribe,
Polarizes, mistrusts
Till finally one day it drives away my love.
