Walking again on my favorite path
I fall in love once more
Peace and beauty
Impregnates my soul
The memories linger
Long after the stroll

Tiny buds on the Japanese Maple
I marvel at spring’s arrival
The hawk takes flight;
For its survival,
Darts down for prey
Its long wingspan pointed vertical

Grass grows florets in spring
I never noticed these tiny flowers
My dog knows every corner of this trail
She has paused and sniffed
Each blade of grass and
Every pebble of the asphalt

The hawk sits atop the eucalyptus
Must be nice to watch the forest
The dog sways her hips happy
As she reaches a small crest
These moments I notice
Nothing else is worth my focus

This place is my sanctuary
Myriad of scenes come alive
Each time I take a walk;
As blissful memories revive,
Demanding attention and
Leaving beautiful impressions
